Minutes – Annual meeting

Hudson Berkshire Division USFA

The Gristmill – Saturday  6/7/08

Meeting called to order at the Patterson Residence at 6:45PM

Present were:

Bruce Gillman – HB Chair

Karen Gumport

Hope Konecny

Anne Dambrowski

Beth Patterson – HB Vice-Chair

Ethan Patterson

Paige Rebeor – HB Treasurer

Jared Rebeor

1.      Reports

A – Chair – Tournaments and division running smoothly

B – Vice-Chair –

C -- Secretary – division numbers continue to increase

D – Treasurer – division made a small profit this year, still over $10,000 in the bank

Motion – That HB Division officers who are not USFA competitive members will have their USFA memberships reimbursed by the Division. If they wish compete later in the season, they will then be obliged to reimburse the Division for the cost of their membership.

Rationale – The USFA requires all officers of Divisions to be current USFA members. Officers are volunteering their time to the Division. They should not also be forced to volunteer their money. Just as travel and meeting expenses are reimbursed to officers. Required USFA membership costs should be reimbursed. If an officer later decides to become a competitor, that officer should pay the money back to the Division as their USFA membership would no longer be considered as a legitimate officer expense.

Motion presented by Karen Gumport, 2nd Anne Dambrowski

Motion passes 5-0.

2.   Old Business

A – Competitions (Div Champs?).

Rather than revive the Division Championships, there was discussion about replacing them with a revival of the New York State Championships and having it sponsored by the HB division. The Championships would be open to all USFA fencers, not just HB or NYS fencers and include Junior Open and Vet categories. The site discussed was Bard College some time in June 2009.

B – Elite Athlete Funding Proposal

The committee needs to submit a proposal in final written form at the September scheduling meeting and then we are set to commence with it. All have agreed with the concept in principle for the last two years.

C – Division Equipment

If any needs repair it should go to Bernie or Rod.

Matching Funds program should be restarted: $500 limit per club up to $2500. Proposals due by Jan 1, 2009. Request forms need to be available at the September meeting.

3. New Business

4)     Treasurer – Paige Rebeor
